Solid State Phased Array Radar System (SSPARS)
ARCTEC Services was a joint venture created in 1999 between ATCO Structures & Logistics and ASWS to operate and maintain five communications/radar sites of the Solid State Phased Array Radar System (SSPARS) - a geographically diverse United States Air Force radar protection system. ATCO Structures & Logistics completed its commitment to this project on September 30, 2006.Although services vary by site, they included radar, communications, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and electronic control systems and overall facilities.
ARCTEC Services provided operation and maintenance of Communications systems and radar equipment at the five sites under contract with the United States Air Force Space Command. Services provided at each location are detailed below:
At Clear Air Station, AK and Thule Air Base, Greenland, ARCTEC Services also managed and operated the Air Force Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) facilities-calibrating test measurement and diagnostic equipment used by third parties.
